Abandoned Land and Rating Sales

Abandoned Land is land that the ratepayer has abandoned and has paid no rates for at least three years, often longer. The research as to the ownership of the land has been thorough and includes:

Notices on the properties.
Enquiries with the neighbours.
Checking with the Waitangi Tribunal.

This tender is part of a statutory process which involves a public tender of land that has been declared abandoned by the District Court.

The tender process includes at least two public advertisements. The tender opens Tuesday 14 May 2013 and closes 4pm Thursday 27 June 2013. The conditions of tender are included in the tender documents for each property.

The result of the successful tender will be that the tenderer will own the property.
