Governance
Ruapehu District Council’s Local Governance Statement is a collection of information about the processes that Council uses to engage with its community. It outlines how Council makes decisions and how residents can become involved in those processes.
It also promotes local democracy by providing the public with information on ways they can influence local democratic processes. This statement is prepared pursuant to Section 40 of the Local Government Act 2002 (LGA).
The Ruapehu District Council Local Governance Statement is a publicly available document. This document is available from all Council offices and libraries.
Council adopted the 2011 Ruapehu District Council Local Governance Statement and Elected Members Code of Conduct on 8 February 2011. The Governance Statement is a living document, being revisited within six months of each triennial election. The Local Governance Statement will be amended from time to time as Council adds to or changes its various policies.
