Swimming Pools
Council maintains and operates three public swimming pools situated in the main centres of population at Taumarunui, Ohakune and Raetihi. Subject to weather, the duration of the swimming season commences at the beginning of December each year, subject to the pool temperature reachingt 19OC, the water temperature being the deciding factor.
Council's contractor sets wimming pool fees for ticket sales, casual hire and key bond, under agreement with Council. Please contact the pool directly or Council's Customer Service Group if you have any enquiries.
Taumarunui PoolTuraki StreetThe Taumarunui swimming pool complex consists of a main pool and a learners' pool, changing rooms and toilets. High (3m) and low (1m) diving boards are installed at the deep end of the main pool. Semi-shaded picnic tables, lawn lounging areas, benched seating and a coin-operated BBQ are also provided.
Ohakune PoolRaetihi RoadThe Ohakune complex consists of a main pool, learners' pool, changing rooms and toilets. The pools have some heating, with pool covers used on a daily basis during the swimming season for heat retention overmight. The complex has lawn lounging areas, picnic tables and bench seating, and two shade sails are also provided.
Raetihi PoolParapara RoadThe Raetihi swimming pool complex consists of a main pool, a learners' pool, changing rooms and toilets. Lawn lounging areas, picnic tables and seating areas are also provided.
