Water Supply

The Future Ruapehu Community Outcomes Report 2005 consultation highlighted that water supply is perceived by communities to be one of the essential services of Council and should remain Council’s responsibility.

Council is required under the Local Government Act 2002 to assess the need and provision of water services, including water supply (Sections 125, 126).

Council has requirements under the Horizons Regional Council Policy Statement (1998) in regard to quantity of water used.

Council has a requirement under the Local Government Act 2002 to retain its water supplies.
