Purpose

To provide advice and liaison with Council’s Visit Ruapehu Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO), to ensure the directions and activities of the RTO co-ordinate with and support the District’s visitor industry.

Meeting Frequency

Quarterly.

Operating Principles and Practices

1. Not operated according to Standing Orders.
2. Informal meeting with industry representatives around an agreed list of discussion points.
3. Six monthly report to Council required.

Area of Responsibility

1. Liaise with the tourism sector to advance the Tourism Strategic Plan.
2. Advice of Council strategy and upcoming projects of relevance to the sector and consult with sector over these.
3. Distribute visitor information and other public information to support the sector’s planning.
4. Receive input from the sector on future directions and issues.
5. Develop joint strategic approaches and initiatives
