Waka Kotahi NZTA have advised that SH4 between the Ongarue Bridge intersection and the Okahukura Bridge Road is likely to be closed over the long weekend due to work on the culvert blockage caused by the storm event.
A detour is in place for light vehicles via the Ongarue Back Road.
Land Transport Manager Andrea Nicol said that people should take extra care when out on the roads this long weekend.
“Local roads have fared well from the storm event with only a few minor slips and some flooding in the usual places,” she said.
“Ohura Road is closed due to flooding just north of Nihoniho. Road close signs are out and locals in the area are aware.”
