Swimming Pools

Council offers public swimming pools in Taumarunui, Raetihi and Ohakune which are open over the summer period. Taumarunui High School and Community Trust also operate a 25 metre indoor pool in Taumarunui, which is open all year round.

Pools in Raetihi and Ohakune are open. The Taumarunui Pool has been closed while repairs were undertaken for multiple leaks in the pool seams however is now expected to open Monday 15 January 2018.

Here are the written submissions we received when discussing with the community what to do with the Taumarunui Pool.

Swimming Lessons on Offer

Swimming lessons will be run at the Raetihi pool one day per week for seven weeks from 22nd January to 11 March 2018. The aim of the swim magic programme is to help focus on progresssion of the swim group in a small space of time through highly structured lessons.

The Raetihi pool has been selected to hold the lessons as it offers reliability due to it being a covered pool. There will be no need to cancel lessons should the weather be poor. Having lessons in Raetihi alone also enables resources to be concentrated on one site, ensuring a more efficient programme is able to be maintained.

The cost for seven lessons will be $56.

To register your interest and enrol for lessons email swimmagic@clmnz.co.nz or phone Lynn on 027 467 7053.

Times and days for lessons will be confirmed on Monday 15 January 2018.
