Road Closure - Ohura Road

Until further notice, Ohura Road is closed between Ohura North Road and Waitewhena Road due to a large slip. The slip is 2.5km from Ohura and 35km from State Highway 4.

The deep-seated slip has also uplifted and blocked the Railway line. Contractors have arranged for some drone photos of the slip so it can be further evaluated.

Installing a temporary access route around the slip is being considered. However, due to the saturated nature of the soils this may be impractical.

Alternative access to Ohura is available via State Highway 43 from Taumarunui.
