​​Update on Public Meetings

Due to the Coronavirus/ Covid19 restrictions all Council (inc. Community Board) public meetings have been postponed for the time being.

Please note that this does not mean that Council business has stopped.

We will emerge out of this period in due course and want to be well placed to support our communities to get back normal as quickly as possible.

Our planning and development processes will continue for our Annual and Long Term Plans and other major projects.

We will be continue online and engaging in other ways so keep your eyes on our Facebook page and website.

You can also continue to talk with your elected representatives about any issues that concern you.

All Council meetings and workshops including any Community Board, Ward Committee or Maori Council meetings are generally open to the public, unless there is a reason for public to be excluded.

Council, Committee and Community Board meetings are run in accordance with Standing Orders as adopted at the beginning of the triennium.

Council meeting schedule

In October 2019 Council adopted a three weekly meeting schedule.

Meetings are held in Council Chambers and alternate between Ohakune and Taumarunui 

Community Board/Ward Committee meeting schedule

Community Board and Taumarunui/Ohura Ward Committee meetings are usually held as follows:

  • - six weekly on a Tuesday (excluding January) in either Owhango, National Park or Taumarunui  at 5.00pm.
  • - first Thursday of the month (excluding January) in the Council Chamber, Ayr Street, Ohakune or Council Chamber, Seddon Street, Raetihi at 6.00pm.
  • - last Thursday of every second month  in the Council Chamber, Huia Street, Taumarunui at 10.00am.

Other meetings  

Council often holds other meetings as part of consultation on specific issues or community engagement. Details of any up-coming consultation/engagement meetings​ can be found by following this link.
