Release of Confidential Reports into Public Business
In accordance with the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) and guidance from the Office of the Ombudsman it is important that information that no longer needs to be excluded from the public should be released when it is possible to do so.
This page is where Reports that have been in the Public Excluded agenda of Council, Committee and Community Board meetings will be released into Public Business.
Proactive Release
Council does not have a Proactive Release Policy at present. Proactive release is not required under the OIA, but it is consistent with the purpose of the Act, which is to progressively increase the availability of official information to the people of New Zealand
Released by Resolution
Council, its Committees or Community Boards may resolve to release Reports and/or Resolutions into Public Business either at the meeting where the item has been tabled, or at a future meeting. On some occasions, it may be necessary to release a redacted report.
Where Resolutions are released into Public Business at the meeting, they will be included in the Public Business Minutes of the meeting where the item was tabled.
