Residents keen to have their say on Taumarunui plans
Residents and friends of Taumarunui have been very keen to have their say on the township revitalisation concept plans with over 300 people viewing the plans since their launch on Monday night (5 Dec).
Ruapehu Chief Executive Clive Manley said that there had been a steady stream of people coming to view the plans and have their say all week.
“Council is really pleased with the response to the concept plans which have been produced to assist community envisage what could be and form the basis for further discussion and input,” he said.
“The antidotal feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive.”
“What everyone seems to be in total agreement on is that they want to see things happening and the town moving forward.”
“We would like to see as many people as possible coming along to the display at 81 Hakiaha St (between ANZ and PaperPlus) to view the plans and provide some feedback on what they think.”
“The display shop is open today (Fri 9 Dec) from 3.00 o’clock until 6.00pm and tomorrow Christmas Parade day from 10.00am until 1.00pm.”
“The plans and an on-line feedback form are also available via Council’s website ruapehudc.govt.nz”
“Once we are sure we are on the right track we will put a proposal through the Annual Planning process including an idea of how much it will cost and how we might pay for it,” said Mr. Manley.
“It needs to be remembered that township revitalization is a journey and we won’t get to the finish line in one swoop.”
“The exciting thing however is that the journey is well and truly underway.”
