Ōhura State of Emergency Lifted

Ruapehu District Council advises that the local State of Emergency for Ōhura has now been lifted, with the Civil Defence response transitioning from response into recovery.

Civil Defence resources from Council and partner agencies will now shift from response activities to supporting recovery and rebuilding.

While the most urgent needs have reduced, the impact on the community remains significant and recovery will take time. The focus is now on helping residents clean up and get back on their feet.

Welfare support, information, and assistance remain available, and people are encouraged to come forward and discuss their needs. Agencies will continue working closely with the community to ensure support is targeted where it is needed most.

Council and partner agencies remain committed to supporting Ōhura through the recovery phase and will continue to provide updates as work progresses.
