The Annual Plan is prepared in years 2 and 3 after the adoption of the Long Term Plan (LTP). It outlines exceptions to what was forecast for those years in the LTP. As time goes by, unexpected things occur that mean that adjustments need to be made to the plans, both in terms of projects and finances. Here’s how the process works:
- Council adopted the LTP 2018-28. A strategic document forcasting the finances and projects of Council for ten years. This document is reviewed and updated every three years.
- The first year of expenditure is written in the LTP.
- The second and third years are reviewed, and if needed, changes are made through a consultation process with the community.
- If there is no changes required and what was forecasted in the LTP remains the same, Council is not required to consult. (Under the Local Government Act 2002.)
This year 2020/21 there were no changes to the forecasted expenditure or projects listed in year three of the LTP, therefore Council did not consult on its Annual Plan. Council did have public meetings scheduled to gather feedback from the community, however, these had to be rescheduled due to Covid-19 and are now scheduled to be held in August. These meetings will also be used as pre engagement meetings for the Long Term Plan 2021-31.
Council adopted the Annual Plan 2020/21 through the public Council meeting held 24 June 2020.
