Council is committed to working with any Ruapehu township on their revitalisation. The process, speed, what is required, etc. varies from township to township. Some towns have access to resources and active community groups that have been working on development projects for sometime. Others need greater levels of assistance.
Taumarunui, Raetihi and Ohura
The townships listed in the left hand menu have all started the revitalisation discussion with Council. Urban design specialists Bespoke has, or is in the process of, developing revitalisation concept plans for Taumarunui, Raetihi and Ohura. Residents and other stakeholders are encouraged to have their say on these plans via the Bespoke Concept Plan Feedback Form web page.
Ohakune, National Park, Waiouru and other townships
Ohakune, National Park, Waiouru and other Ruapehu townships may choose to work with Bespoke in the future. In the interim residents and other stakeholders are encouraged to have their say on on what they envisage for their township.
Putting our townships on a path to growth and prosperity will take ideas, energy and passion from the people who will benefit the most, our local communities. Please have your say on what you want for your township and its revitalisation.
