Rates are set on all rateable properties (rating unit) by Local and Regional Councils.

Rates are based on what a property is used for, such as residential or commercial use and the capital value of the property. Our registered valuation service provider, Quotable Value Limited, provides the values and factors as part of the basis for rates setting.

Rating Valuations are performed every three years by Quotable Value Limited.  These take effect in the following rating year. For example, the 2020 revaluation takes effect from 1 July 2021. The next revaluation will be in September 2023.

Contact Horizons Regional Council for further information on regional rates for your property.
