Preliminary results for the Ruapehu District Council elections will be released tomorrow afternoon, later than originally anticipated, due to significantly higher voter turnout on the final day of voting.
Electionz.com has been processing almost double the number of votes compared to the 2022 local body elections, with approximately 55,000 ordinary votes being processed today, in addition to the 76,000 votes processed on Saturday.
"We're seeing considerably more voters casting their ballots on the final day, which is fantastic for local democracy but does require additional processing time," said Chief Executive Clive Manley.
"Electionz.com is working diligently to ensure every vote is accurately counted while maintaining the integrity of the electoral process."
Revised timeline:
- Progress results were released on Saturday 11 October, based on votes received up to Friday 10 October
- Preliminary results will be available Monday afternoon, 13 October
- Final results remain on track for Thursday 16 October, once all special votes have been verified and counted
Special votes have not been included in either the progress or preliminary results.
Results will be published on Council's website and Facebook page as soon as they are available.
