A key part of Council’s Waste Management and Minimisation Plan is helping people gain the knowledge and practical skills they need to reduce, reuse, recycle, and repurpose to minimise waste and live more sustainably (and cheaply) with more resilience.
Whether you are at home, work, school, the marae or elsewhere in the community, small changes can make a big difference.
Free Workshops
Council supports fun, free workshops where you can learn practical, easy-to-use waste minimisation and sustainability skills. These workshops can help you:
- Reduce the amount of waste you produce
- Reuse and repurpose everyday items
- Make more sustainable choices
- Save money on waste disposal
- Share useful skills with your whānau, workplace or community
Resources and Support
We also work with government agencies, partner organisations and community groups to provide access to information, resources and other opportunities that make it easier to reduce waste.
