The new Waimarino-Waiouru Community Board (WWCB) for the 2025/28 triennium was sworn-in at a ceremony in the Ohakune Council Chambers yesterday evening.
The WWCB elected members for the next three-years are:
- John (Luigi) Hotter - Chairperson,
- Stu Robinson - Deputy Chair,
- Kay Henare,
- Colin Pakai,
- and new first-term member Emma Young.
Councillor (David Rabbit) Nottage is the appointed Council representative.
Appointments to represent the WWCB on outside organisations are:
- Kariori Hall and Recreation Reserve Management Committee - Colin Pakai
- Rangataua Hall and Recreation Reserve Management Committee - Rabbit Nottage
- Ruatiti Recreation Reserve Committee - Kay Henare
- Horopito Hall Committee - Emma Young
- Raetihi Community Plan Steering Committee - Kay Henare
- Ohakune Community Plan Steering Committee - Rabbit Nottage
- Ohakune Carrot Adventure Park Charitable Trust - Stu Robinson
Mayor Weston Kirton congratulated the WWCB members for their election success saying that there was a lot of work ahead while noting that it will be a challenge to keep rates down and at the same time deliver wanted services to the community.
“I want to thank you for your commitment and wish you all the best as a Community Board - I’m very happy to be here and support your work,” he said.
In reply Chairman Luigi Hotter thanked Mayor Kirton for his comments adding that the WWCB was looking forward to working with him and the Council over the next three-years.
