Ruapehu District Council has established a new Community & Economic Partnerships role following a review of what Ruapehu communities need from Council and how to best meet those needs.
Executive Manager Community, Governance and Resilience Tasha Paladin said that Business Relationship & Development Manager Kim Treen would transition into the lead role which brings together business support, funding partnerships and community development activities.
Ms Paladin said that Kim has been supporting businesses and community organisations in this way for some time.
“The new role provides a clearer focus for this work and recognises the important contribution strong partnerships make to Ruapehu’s economic and community wellbeing,” she said.
The Community & Economic Partnerships Lead will provide a central point of contact for businesses and organisations seeking advice, connections or support to progress an idea or project.
The role includes managing the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs, Council’s involvement in the Regional Business Partner Network, funding forums, the Ruapehu Film Office and FilmApp, and responding to business and development enquiries.
Kim said she was excited about the opportunity to help more Ruapehu businesses and organisations achieve their goals.
“Ruapehu has many passionate, innovative, community focused people with great ideas and ambitions for the future,” she said.
“I am looking forward to working alongside them, helping connect them with the right people, information and opportunities, and supporting them to overcome barriers and achieve their objectives.
“When our businesses and organisations succeed, they create employment, strengthen our communities and help build a more resilient and prosperous Ruapehu.”
Kim will also continue working closely with community groups, funding organisations and regional agencies to develop partnerships and bring more resources and opportunities into the district.
To help Ruapehu businesses and community organisations access as much funding as possible and improve their engagement with Council, Council is also seeking a Community Partnerships & Grants Coordinator.
The six-month fixed-term position will work alongside Kim across grant rounds, funding and event coordination, and business and community enquiries.
